Dr. Adam Fernandez is an adult and paediatric perfusionist in Tacoma, Washington, USA. He is reading for the Master of Studies degree in Practical Ethics, at Pembroke College. Adam completed his perfusion training at the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, South Carolina. He has Undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral degrees from universities in the UK and USA. He holds board certification from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cardiovascular Perfusion and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology.
Clinically, Adam's practice includes perfusion and life support for neonatal & pediatric congenital cardiac surgery, adult cardiac surgery, VADs and ECMO.
His area of academic interest includes the ethics of algorithmic decision making and AI in the acute care setting, and AI ethics.
