Michael Bailey is a mechanical engineer reading for the MSt Practical Ethics at the University of Oxford. He is currently Vice President Operational Risk with the global resources company BHP.
Michael is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and holds a PhD from UCL (University College London), awarded by the Faculty of Engineering Sciences. He lives in Australia and has nearly two decades of experience within the global mineral resources industry. Michael’s career originated within the transportation and logistics industry, which led to experience across the Australian, New Zealand, North American and UK rail freight and passenger train markets.
His research interests concern the fields of information ethics, environmental ethics and longtermism.
Michael enjoys time with his family, photography, oil and watercolour painting, bushwalking, and snowskiing.
He will commence his MSt dissertation during 2023.
