Philosophers do it in armchairs and other myths

We were delighted to welcome popular philosopher Nigel Warburton to give the inaugural lecture of the Uehiro Oxford Institute, marking the Institute's focus on public debate and engagement.

In his lecture 'Philosopher's do it in armchairs and other myths' Dr Warburton addresses 5 common ideas about modern philosophy:
1) Philosophers do it in armchairs
2) Moral philosophers are experts
3) The more philosophy the better
4) Public philosophy isn't the real thing
5) Philosophy doesn't change anything

Dr Warburton spoke to a packed hall, and the lively discussion was followed by drinks in Trinity College.
