The Uehiro Oxford Institute invites expressions of interest from postdoctoral scholars who wish to apply for an ERC Consolidator Grant.
Deadline for Expressions of Interest: Friday 4 September 2026
Aimed at staff with 5-15 years of postdoctoral experience, this scheme offers grants of €2 million to fund extensive programmes of research, led by a single grant-holder, and normally involving a small team of postdoctoral researchers in delivering the project. Projects need to be ambitious and ground-breaking, with a strong justification for needing an extensive period of dedicated research. Projects with a sole Principal Investigator working alone are unlikely to be successful. The Principal Investigator needs to commit a minimum of 40% of their working time to the project. Grant projects for the coming round would be scheduled to start in mid-2028.
- Eligibility: researchers with 5-15 years of postdoctoral experience.
- Duration: up to five years.
- Budget and Resources: Guidance on what resources the budget can afford in broad terms is available here.
- How to apply: interested staff should develop a two-page Expression of Interest (EoI) outlining the project and the resources envisaged, and then have a conversation with the UOI Research Office about their proposal. We encourage applicants to have these discussions as early as possible, but for reasons of equity, the Institute may not be able to confirm support until after the EoI deadline.
- Deadline for Expressions of Interest: 4 September 2026 as the cut off for sending an Expression of Interest to UOI Research Office. Applicants selected by the Institute will be supported to submit applications to the call deadline in January 2027 (exact date tbc).
