Antonio Diéguez is professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of Málaga, Spain. He is member of the Málaga Academy of Sciences. He was the first elected president of the Sociedad Iberoamericana de Filosofía de la Biología (AIFIBI), from 2012 to 2017.
His research interests are in the fields of philosophy of technology and philosophy of biology. Recently, he has taken an especial interest in transhumanism, and has published two books, “Transhumanismo. La búsqueda tecnológica del mejoramiento humano” (2017), and “Cuerpos inadecuados”
(2021). His position in this regard is critical, but recognizing the positive effects of biotechnology and even its possible use for human enhancement. During his stay at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, he intends to start writing a new book on some social and political issues related to biotechnology and information technologies.
