Jonas Sandbrink is a DPhil student interested in the dual-use potential of life sciences research and biotechnology. His doctoral work focuses on the implications of emerging advances in synthetic virology for strategies to mitigate catastrophic misuse. His doctoral supervisors are Profs Julian Savulescu and Dominic Wilkinson. Jonas is also a researcher on the biosecurity group at the Future of Humanity Institute. He completed a BA Hons (first class) in Medical Sciences with a focus on infectious disease and immunology at Trinity College, Oxford. He is currently intercalating a DPhil in his medical degree at Green Templeton College, Oxford. Jonas’ work has been published in a range of journals including Nature Ecology & Evolution, Nature Protocols, Nature Communications, mBio, and Frontiers in Immunology.
