Emma is pursuing a DPhil in Philosophy at Jesus College, supervised by Dr. Tom Douglas. She completed her M.A. in Philosophy at University College Cork and received a BA in Philosophy and Psychology from the Open University. Emma has an additional B.A. in English Literature (Open University), and has been a practicing veterinarian for the last nine years (having earned her MVB at University College Dublin).
Emma’s research interests are in the areas of biomedical ethics, criminal justice ethics and animal ethics, and her DPhil research focuses on the ethics of utilising neuropharmacological interventions in crime prevention, investigating whether such interventions might be justified by virtue of their benefits to offenders.
Her DPhil research is funded by the Wellcome Trust.
