Luciano Floridi receives Italy's highest award

Professor Luciano Floridi, Professor of Philosophy and Ethics of Information with the Oxford Internet Institute, and Distinguished Research Fellow of the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics at Oxford,  has been awarded the highest-ranking honour in the Italian republic for his internationally-recognised contribution to Philosophy.

He received the Cavaliere di Gran Croce Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana (Knight of the Grand Cross, first class) by Italy’s president, Sergio Mattarella, on 12 October 2022.

In an interview with University of Oxford, Professor Floridi - ranked as the the most cited living philosopher in the world - said: 

No aspect of our lives has remained untouched by the digital revolution... there is a constant flow of new intellectual challenges and ethical problems that must be addressed by contemporary philosophy
