Updated Guidance on Extreme Preterm Birth Published
The British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) has updated it's guidance for treating extremely premature babies, in light of advances in medical treatment and improved survival rates of babies born at 22 weeks.
OUCs Director of Medical Ethics, Professor Dominic Wilkinson, appeared on BBC Breakfast to discuss the new guidance which he helped draw up, and explained that decisions have to be made on a case-by-case basis. [News item starts at 24:39 on the clock, with Professor Wilkinson appearing at 22:46].
